Seabeck Information

A.R.E.® Summer Seabeck allows people from all walks of life to gather in an open, non-judgmental environment to explore spirituality, different world philosophies, and principles contained in the Edgar Cayce readings. The 5 day event provides an opportunity to meet new friends and re-unite with old ones. The retreat is for the young, the young at heart, soul mates and old souls too. Everyone is welcome!

Forested and overlooking the stunning Hood Canal and Olympic Mountains, Seabeck is a restful and inspirational setting. Housing and structures are all set in a 19th Century atmosphere with an old Schoolhouse, original Inn and turn of the century cabins. The conference groupnds include: private lagoon, expansive lawns and lush forests with hiking trails.

Location

Seabeck is located on the East Shore of Hood Canal near Silverdale, an hour and a half's drive from Seattle with a ferry crossings at Bremerton, Winslow, and Edmonds/Kingston. Tacoma is less than an hour's drive from Seabeck, across the Narrows Bridge via Silverdale.

Youth Program

Mission Statement: Learn and Grow While Making Friends and Having Fun.

Youth ages 6 – 18 are eligible for a very special program. Participating youth will be housed in the kids' cabins, supervised by their coordinators. Daily activities include boating, hiking, swimming, sports, arts and crafts, and drama.

The program also features personal development coaching and introduces spiritual concepts such as meditation and dream interpretation. The guest speakers also adapt their programs to lead workshops for the youth.

Kids Age 3 – 5 A coordinator will be available to assist parents in coordinating child minding with one another. Please advise the registrar if you are interested in taking part. These youth will continue to be housed with their parents.

Sharing Groups

Sharing Groups will again be offered to allow guests to make new friends, discuss topics chosen by the groups, and to explore conference topics in more detail. Sharing Groups are comprised of all ages over 21, and meet several times during the conference.

Salmon Bake

Each year we enjoy one of our Seabeck traditions on the last evening: the Salmon Bake on the beach (weather permitting). Join us for a delicious barbeque in a spectacular beach setting.

Talent Show

After the Salmon Bake on the final evening of the retreat, adults and youth alike will have the opportunity to express their creativity and show their talents in the annual Talent Show. This entertaining extravaganza offers music, skits, drama, dance and most of all, fun. So if you sing, play an instrument, have an idea for a skit or can tell a joke, come and let your talent shine in front of a supportive crowd.

Soiree Dinner

Open up your dress-up trunks and prepare to spend a delightful evening in costume. Bring a costume from home or throw something together once you arrive. Enjoy wacky, outrageous costumes and light-hearted fun. Prizes are awarded for the best adult and youth, male and female.

Jam Sessions Nightly

After the kids' curfew, the rest of us hang out in the schoolhouse for our nightly jam session. Bring an instrument or singing voice, or just your dancing shoes. Everyone is welcome!

What to Bring

Comfortable casual clothing for all types of weather. A warm coat, evenings can be brisk. A costume for the soiree and props for the talent show if you plan on doing something, White elephants and non-perishable items for our silent auction. Musical instruments.

Do not Bring

Firearms, fireworks, radios, pets, illegal drugs, or alcohol.

Lodging and food

Sleeping accommodations are communal with two or three persons per room, except for those reserved for couples and a limited number of single rooms in the inn. Bath facilities are shared except for the Spruce building and a few rooms in the Inn. Bed and bath linens are furnished. Rooms or roommate requests received before July 1st will be honored in order of receipt and will be subject to availability. If you wish to exclude meat or fish from your diet, please specify Vegetarian. T further exclude dairy, please specify Vegan. Please specify if you have any other special dietary or housing needs.

Fee Structure

Meals: The fee structure combines tuition and accommodations including meals from 6:00 pm dinner Wednesday through lunch on Sunday. Day rates are available; please contact the registrar for details.

Kids: Famillies with more than two children may subtract $40 for each child after the second.

Rooms: A limited number of single rooms are available in the Inn for a surcharge of $60. These go quickly, so register early!

Spruce and Inn rooms with private baths are reserved for those attending the entire conference. Surcharge: $90 per person.

Scholarships

Limited scholarships are available to those in need of financial aid. Contact the Registrar to obtain a scholarship form. Applications are due by May 21, 2007.

Deposits, Currency, Late Fees

Full payment at the time of registration is preferred to speed up check-in. The minimum deposit is $50 per adult. A full refund will be made for cancellations before June 5th, but the deposit will be withheld after this date. All payments must be made in US dollars; Canadian funds (check or cash) cannot be accepted. To help offset the unfavorable exchange reate between Canadian and US funds, Canadian attendees receive an extra 10% discount.
